WHY DO I NEED A GUARDIAN?

Following British and Irish regulations, almost all schools require international students studying in the UK with families living overseas to have an educational guardian in the country. This is to assist them with their needs, act as an emergency contact and stand in for the role of the student’s caretakers. Harbour House Guardianships act as guardians to students all over the world for this purpose and for the safety and comfort of students and parents.

WHAT DOES A GUARDIAN DO?

Although we provide a full list of responsibilities on our ‘Services’ page, which can be found on the top right of the site, our guardians are mainly responsible to be an emergency contact for students, attend school meetings, find host families for exeats and term breaks, arrange the students’ travel and basic needs, and more.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED HELP WITH THINGS NOT LISTED UNDER THE PACKAGES?

We understand having a child studying overseas can go hand in hand with having many unexpected surprises, needs and questions, and we’re happy to help in offering assistance in terms of services we haven’t listed. Some examples include attending a child’s performance, accompanying a child to a medical appointment, or attending an award ceremony. This can be arranged with parents, and where the appearance of a member of staff is required, a cost of £20 per hour plus travel expenses will be requested.
